Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here!

This space is where I explore what it means to live well—not someday when circumstances are different, but here, in the life we actually have.

I was diagnosed with idiopathic gastroparesis at 23. It’s been two decades since then and my experience has run the gamut—from being completely debilitated to living a full, happy life with gastroparesis mostly in the background. Along the way, I’ve spent 15 years helping thousands of other people with gastroparesis as a coach, author, and educator.

If I could share just one thing from all of that, it would be this: this diagnosis does not have to define your life.

And this Substack is where I’m living that out that lesson in real time. It grows out of Living WELL with Gastroparesis, but it isn’t only about gastroparesis. It’s about the whole messy, ordinary, beautiful life that happens around and alongside a diagnosis—travel, relationships, parenting, work, mental health, uncertainty, tiny joys, big fears, and everything in between.

Gastroparesis flavors many of those conversations, because that’s true in real life. But this is where we come together as full human beings, not just patients: to look for more peace, freedom, ease, and belonging in the middle of whatever we’re living through, and to remember it’s all part of being human.

How this is different from my other work

If you’re looking for structured, nuts‑and‑bolts help—the Quick Start Guide, my books, or the online program—you’ll still find all of that on my Living WELL with Gastroparesis site. Think of that as the library and classroom: clear information, step‑by‑step guidance, and practical tools.

This space is more like the living room. It’s where I share thoughts, conversations, and podcast episodes about what it actually looks like to live a bigger, freer, more peaceful life with whatever you’re dealing with in this moment.

Sometimes that means practical posts about navigating doctor’s visits or travel plans. Sometimes it’s about health anxiety, thought, and the inside-out nature of experience. Sometimes we’ll talk to doctors and other experts in this space. Sometimes it’ll be just me, sharing what occurs to me as I walk through life.

This is also where you’ll find my podcast, The Living Well Pod — casual, real‑life conversations with my friends and fellow coaches, Samantha Cook and Stefanie Maira, about living with gastroparesis and everything else life brings.

Why subscribe

If you’re feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, lonely, or just tired of trying to “do everything right” so you can feel better, this is where I’ll be showing up on a regular basis, and where I hope you’ll show up, too. If you’ve known me through Living WELL with Gastroparesis, consider this the next chapter and the wider frame of that work: a place to explore what it means to live well with gastroparesis and beyond, as a whole human being.

I’m so glad you’re here.
