The future of Living Well with Gastroparesis
Why I'm moving to a community-supported model and how you can help.
I recorded a short video discussing the future of this space and my work. The written update is below for those who prefer to read.
When I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in 2004, I had no idea it would become my life’s work. But for the past sixteen years, I’ve been teaching, writing, and speaking with people around the world about living well with this condition. Most of what I’ve created during that time has been freely available to anyone who needed it — and I’ve always wanted it to stay that way.
At the same time, I’ve wrestled with how to make this work sustainable. For a while, the answer was one-on-one coaching. It’s the traditional way to “pay the bills” in this space. But as a homeschooling mom managing my own health conditions, my time is limited these days. When it’s spent on individual sessions, I can’t create the videos, podcast episodes, and posts that reach the thousands of other people who need them.
And honestly, I know that many people are struggling financially, and I’m uncomfortable with the idea of help only being available to those who can afford private coaching.
So, I’m trying something new. I’m shifting to a community-supported model here on Substack. My hope is that this will allow me not just to sustain this work, but to expand it — creating a wider variety of content and resources about living well with gastroparesis (and beyond).
If my work has helped you, encouraged you, or made you feel less alone, this is an opportunity to support that work through a $5 monthly or $50 annual subscription.
This is not a paywall. If you can’t or don’t want to be a paid supporter, nothing changes for you. You still get every issue of the Living Well Letter, every episode of The Living Well Pod, and every new post or video in between.
But if you’d like to support this work, please click the button below. As a thank you, I’ll be hosting a monthly Q&A beginning in June for paid subscribers and opening the comments section on posts so we can connect more directly.
Whether you choose to support financially or simply continue reading, watching, and listening, I am deeply grateful you’re here. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your experience.
I’ll see you on Thursday for a new episode of The Living Well Pod!
Warmly,
Crystal
